Protection against petya or #notpetya cyber attack

Zurich (June 28, 2017) Lucy Security is launching a new version of Lucy Server on July 1, which contains #notpeya simulations in the standard product. Lucy Security wants to contribute to the effective containment of malware with this action.

The worldwide #notpetya attack of June 27, 2017 has probably originated in an infected software update. But there are also reports that the spreading was carried out with the help of a spear phishing attack combined with a malware infected MS-Excel file.

The initial infection is first made possible by the carelessness of the user. In addition to the circumvention of the user vulnerabilities of the computer are specifically sought and exploited. Inadequate security settings in Windows allow only to install the malware permanently and to ensure the distribution. It is evident in this case that security is always a combination of man and technology, and should not be viewed in isolation.

LUCY is the world’s only provider of cyber prevention products, which actively simulates this combined attack pattern: users and additionally the IT infrastructure are tested jointly. In addition to phishing simulations, LUCY offers the unique malware simulation, which checks possibly unsecure Windows settings. Integrated learning modules are also included.

To this end, from 1 July the attack template, which is based on #notpetya, is available for download. For more information and a link to download Lucy Server at: www.lucysecurity.com/download
